Edna Gundersen of USA TODAY writes, 'Elliott Yamin: While he hasn't snagged a record deal, Yamin has been writing and recording songs for an upcoming album; he also signed a publishing deal with Sony and just unveiled his cover of Donny Hathaway's soulful This Christmas on AOL. "The more time goes on, the less impact he's going to have from the show," Gamboa says. However, delayed success is possible, he says, pointing to Idol reject Jennifer Hudson, the Oscar-buzz star of Dreamgirls. "Nobody thought about her, and then she got this role," Gamboa says.
